Owned by Henry and Janet Schurink
Henry and Janet Schurink emigrated from Holland and purchased a farm in South Shaftsbury, Vermont, in 1955. They established a dairy operation, milking an excellent herd of Holstein cows.
Over the years, their interest in horses grew. What had at first been a hobby, blossomed into a substantial equestrian enterprise. The Schurinks reputation grew, as the business quickly increased to 65 boarding and personal horses.
Doornhof Farm founded the USPC Bennington Pony club in 1968 in addition to hosting / organizing years of qualifying recognized three day events and dressage shows.

The Schurink’s long standing love of Trakehner horses began in 1961, when Henry began importing Trakehners for his family.
All three of Henry and Janet’s children (Renee, Jerry and Sjaan) became accomplished equestrians competing in pony club, eventing and dressage regional and national shows.
Annual trips to Europe began in 1974 seeking excellent Trakehners for family and clients.
Henry attended the Elite Trakehner Spring Auction at Klosterhof in Medingen, Germany for 25 consecutive years. Henry has imported a staggering total of 200 warm bloods into the United States.
As pioneers of importing, breeding and competing Mr. and Mrs. Schurink continue sharing their love, experience and wisdom with horses at their mountain side Doornhof Farm providing lessons and board next door to Shanderhof Farm.
